CONTRIBUTER POPULAR AT SALES

High-flying young sire Contributer proved to be very popular at the New Zealand Bloodstock National Yearling Sales held earlier this week. The dual Gr.1 winning son of High Chaparral has been making a name for himself on the racetrack with his progeny performing impressively on both sides of the Tasman.

Adding more excitement leading into sale week, Contributer sired another dominant winner in the name of Tribute King continuing on his impressive run. Trained by Shaun Ritchie, Tribute King blew his rivals away at Te Rapa and will head down a Gr.1 New Zealand Derby path.

With Contributer firmly on everybody's radar, his offspring were in high demand right throughout the week long sale. Contributer was represented by 5 yearlings in the Book 1 sale and the leading buyers were caught in spirited bidding duels to secure his offspring. Contributer averaged a super impressive $141,000 across Book 1 with these results coming off a $12,500 service fee, a fantastic result for all breeders concerned.

His sale results put him right in the thick of things at the top of the leaderboard for sires with the best return on investment (sale average minus service fee). A key measuring tool for breeders , he ranked 2nd behind the highly anticipated first season sire Almanzor, and ahead of established sires Savabeel and Ocean Park.

With an impressive return of $128,500 across Book 1, he is likely to be a popular choice with breeders later this year. The results back up his performance statistics on the track where he is currently the leading NZ based 2nd season sire for earnings across Australasia.

Buyers who missed out on Contributer yearlings in Book 1, immediately turned their attention to the Book 2 sale where he again achieved great results. Another 100% clearance rate in the sale, he sold 5 lots at a very strong average of $52,200.

Highlights included Lot 717, a colt out of a Fastnet Rock mare selling to Wexford stables for $100,000 and Lot 589, a filly from the same family Ocean Park and Grunt being knocked down to a bid from Phil Cataldo for $90,000.

With the dust now settled on the NZB Yearling Sale Series, our attention moves to the Inglis Classic Sale in Sydney starting on the 7th February. The Riverside complex is now holding parades throughout the week and we are sure Contributer's offspring will be just as popular on the other side of the Tasman.

Mapperley Stud has sent over a stunning Contributer colt to the sale and is presented as Lot 134 on the account of Lime Country Thoroughbreds. This colt is out of the young stakes performed Volksraad mare Mapmaker and is a half-brother to the promising Hong Kong winner Methane. He is from the same family as multiple stakes winner Hippopus and The Big Popper.
