Mapperley Stud was established over half a century ago by Simms’s grandparents and the management of the Matamata based stud was handed over to Simms and wife Margaux back in 2010.
Both Simms and Margaux share a passion for the establishment of the business and decided to go back to “old roots” when building the Mapperley stallion roster back up and now stand four stallions at the stud. Simms and Margaux are very excited about what the future holds for Mapperley and are committed to providing first class service to clients and buyers alike!

Steven graduated from the University of Waikato with a Bachelor of Management Studies majoring in Finance and Strategic Management. Steven has a strong passion for all things racing, and his enthusiasm and understanding of the industry has played an important part in the recent developments at Mapperley. With his role largely focused on stallion nominations, he is driven by the success of our stallions and has a keen interest in breaking down successful crosses.

KAT MALCOLM
BLOODSTOCK MANAGER
An avid horse woman, Kat has been involved with horses her whole life. Eager to pursue a career in the equine field, Kat completed a Bachelor of Applied Science (majoring in Equine Science) in 2007 and has cumulated valuable experience managing studs in NZ, Australia and England. Kat has a particular passion for rearing and raising young horses and possesses all the key attributes to make her perfect for managing the yearling and foaling operation at Mapperley.
