Mapperley Stud presented the first yearlings by the Australian Champion Miler Contributer at this years NZB Karaka Yearling Sale. His yearlings were extremely popular with the buyers at the sales with the top colt being knocked down to the powerhouse Godolphin for $250,000.
The top selling colt was Lot 508 out of the stakes winning mare Viana. This particular colt had the whole package - size, strength, an extremely powerful hindquarter and a stunning walk. Stud Master Simms Davison is over the moon with the result and said "this colt ticked a lot of boxes, and he was extremely popular all week - so it's great to get a huge result like this.
Bred and sold by long term client Jonny Orr, he was absolutely thrilled with the result. Contributer stood for the modest service fee of $15,000 in his first year at stud and his progeny sold very strongly throughout the whole yearling sales. More importantly, a lot of top trainers and bloodstock agents were actively chasing them in the ring which was extremely pleasing to see. A large number of his first crop have found really good homes with top trainers in both Australia and New Zealand. We now look forward to their early education and seeing them develop into lovely young horses on the racetrack.
