The recent addition of Summer Passage, a Gr.1 winning son of Snitzel, has given the Mapperley Stud Stallion roster a huge boost ahead of the 2019 breeding season. The first son of Snitzel to stand in New Zealand, he will prove to be excellent value for breeders at $8000 +gst.
Snitzel has been the dominant sire in Australia over the past few years. He is the leading sire of 2 year-olds, 3 year-olds and is currently running away with his third general premiership. Summer Passage was a gifted 2 year-old, he demonstrated exceptional speed to win the Gr.1 Sistema Stakes and Lst. Matamata Slipper. As the dominant 2 year-old colt in New Zealand, he embarked on an Australian campaign where he ran 2nd in the Gr.1 Sires Produce narrowly missing to Invader. Trapeze Artist finished in 3rd completing an historic Gr.1 trifecta for Snitzel.
Champion Australian Middle Distance Horse of the Year Contributer headlines the roster again and stands at an unchanged fee of $12,500+gst. Contributer offers an incredible opportunity to breeders who are eager to access High Chaparral’s best performed son at stud in New Zealand. An unbelievably talented racehorse, Contributer is a dual Gr.1 winner, 5-time stakes winner and has an impeccable pedigree with his first two dams being stakes winners. His first crop of yearlings proved to be very popular amongst buyers at the yearling sales with his top colt selling for $250,000, the highest sale price for a first season sire in New Zealand.
Dominant Gr.1 Spring Champion Stakes winner Complacent will stand for $5000+gst in 2019. Representing enormous value, breeders have taken advantage of being able to access such a well performed and beautifully breed son of champion sire Authorized. His first crop of yearlings have landed in some of the leading stables in Australasia. There has been plenty of positive feedback about his progeny and as a result, we can expect him to be supported strongly in 2019.
Puccini will prove to be popular again at $5000+gst, especially after the passing of his record-breaking sire Encosta De Lago. Puccini is the best-performed son of Encosta De Lago at stud in Australasia. He was crowned champion 3 year-old of the year winning the NZ Derby and the three lead up Guineas. His win in the Gr.1 Thorndon Mile was simply dynamic and he went on to win at stakes level on seven occasions. With stunning first foals on the ground last year, there is plenty of excitement around his future at stud.
He’s Remarkable will return in 2019 and will stand at $3000+gst. He is starting to hit his straps as a sire with a number of promising gallopers coming through the ranks. Age of Chivalry was unveiled as a star of the future after a brilliant campaign in Melbourne and London Hall is emerging as an exceptional staying talent in Hong Kong.
