Complacent has alerted buyers on both sides of the Tasman with two strong sale results at the Ready to Run sales. The Gr.1 Spring Champion Stakes winner Complacent has his first crop of 2 year-olds ready to hit the track this season, and these two were a great preview of the types of horses he has coming through the ranks. The Complacent – Attention Seeker colt caught the eye at the NZB Ready to Run sale after he breezed up stylishly in a sharp 10.86 for vendors Riverrock Farm. There were plenty of good judges keen to secure the striking colt with a bidding duel unfolding in the sales ring, Matt Kropp Racing from Queensland eventually came out on top with a winning bid of $170,000.
Complacent also attracted attention from buyers at the Inglis Ready to Race Sale in Sydney when the colt out of the stakes producer Granita sold for $80,000 to B Kwok / Bevan Smith Bloodstock. The colt will be trained by Bjorn Baker who was also a huge fan of the colt during inspections.
The sale was extra special as Jasmine Robertson an ex-employee of Mapperley Stud bred the colt with her partner Robert Wellwood while working at the stud. The whole team at Mapperley were rapt to see one of their old colleagues achieve great success in the sales ring. “It was a great result for the two, Jasmine did a great job promoting the stallion and has always believed in him since day one, let’s hope this colt can now do the business on the track and fly the flag for Complacent” added Davison
