Talented Atlante filly Star of Bombay looked like a star in the making when she blew away her opposition with a scintillating victory at Ellerslie. Coming off a decisive maiden victory at Te Rapa a couple weeks back she made sure she proved it wasn't a fluke with another big margin victory.
Prepared by the team at Te Akau Racing, leading jockey Craig Grylls positioned her beautifully during the running before she unleased her devastating turn of foot and put the race away in a matter of strides. She won with real authority and there now talk that she will head straight to a stakes race at her next start.
Star of Bombay is the first foal out of the Starcraft mare Astardia. Mapperleyu Stud recently sold her full-sister at the NZB Ready to Run Sale for $37,500 to Australian Trainer Tim Donnelly. She currently has a yearling half-sister by Complacent that will be retained by Mapperley and eventually added to our racing programme. Astardia foaled down a beautiful Complacent colt in 2019 and is enjoying his early life on the rolling hills of Mapperley
