Maria Farina showed she was at the top of her game with an emphatic win over 1200m at the feature meeting at Hastings. Trained by Darren Weatherly out of Matamata, son Sam Weatherly piloted the talented daughter of Contributer and was able to navigate a clear path for the filly to burst through over the final stages for an eye-catching victory.

A progressive 4 year-old mare Maria Farina has won 3 of her 5 career starts and was competitive at stakes level as a 3 year-old running 5th in the Group 3 Almanzor Trophy. Still a lightly-raced, she displayed a brilliant turn of foot which should see her continue onto better races this preparation.

Maria Farina is the 2nd foal out of the Darci Brahma mare La Vitesse, who is a daughter of the Gr.2 winner Naturo. She was bred by Darren & Lou Weatherly in conjuction with their long term client Barry Wright. La Vitesse is already back in foal to Contributer in 2021.
