Mapperley Stud graduate MIME (Mastercraftsman – Maidjeu) had us all on the edge of our seats today when the gutsy 4-year-old mare was unluckily beaten by 5 time Group 1 winner Kawi in the Group 1 Windsor Park Plate run at Hastings (1600m).
The lightly raced mare who has already clocked up Group 2 & Group 3 wins had a dream run and looked to have the victory tied down at the top of the straight but unfortunately Kawi found his feet and ran the mare down, beating her by a very short head.
Mime is nominated for the Group 1 Livamol Classic on October 1st where she is likely to find herself up against a field of old rivals but the step up in trip should be more suited to her.
Bred by the late Lawrence Redshaw, Mime passed-in at the 2014 New NZB Select Sale after failing to meet a modest reserve of $15,000. It is now hard to believe that after only 13 starts, Mime has cumulated $204,525 in earnings and has won on 4 occasions, claimed 6 seconds and has only been out of the placings twice! We can’t wait to see what the rest of her career brings and all the best to her connections (China Horse Club) as Mime looks to add the Group 1 Livamol Classic to her resume.
We are also very excited to announce that Mime’s dam Maidjeu (by Montjeu) is currently in foal to exciting resident first season sire CONTRIBUTER #GatewayToSuccess
