FIRST STAKES PERFORMER FOR ARMORY
Armory sired his first stakes performer of his early stud career when Silhouette came flashing home to finish 3rd in the Gr.3 Northland Breeders Stakes to secure important black type for the promising 3 year-old filly.
Having her first start of her 3 year-old season, Silhouette was presented in brilliant order by her trainer Tony Cole for her first up assignment and showed that she was in store for a big 3 year-old season with an eye-catching late finish.
Ridden by Samantha Collett, Silhouette was ridden quietly at the tail from a wide gate but pierced her way through the field to finish off the best of any galloper rattling off the fastest 200m of the race, and the 2nd fastest of the entire meeting.
“Very pleased with her run on Saturday, just got back from the wide gate but finished off strongly, she’s come back very well and there is plenty of improvement to come” said trainer Tony Cole
“She’s a lovely relaxed tractable filly. She’s come through the run well and if all goes to plan we will target the Gr.3 Sunline Vase in 3 weeks, we would love to get her to Ellerslie for a look around”
Silhouette was a dominant debut winner for Armory winning by 4 lengths as a pre Christmas 2 year-old showcasing her natural ability ahead of her classic 3 year-old season.
The Armorer joined Silhouette as another 2 year-old debut winner for Armory last season winning at Hawera over 1200m for trainers Ben & Ryan Foote.
